Virtual College with nearly 300,000 learners report record numbers gaining their Food Hygiene Certificate online.

Virtual College, the Food, Drink & Hospitality e-Academy’s parent company, were pioneers in launching online training and certification for Food Safety and Hygiene back in 2005; since then over 30,000 people have gained their certification online and the number is growing rapidly month on month.

Recognising pressures to businesses of releasing people for conventional class room based training at a time convenient for the trainer but not always for the businesses, Virtual College working with Dr Rosemary Pearson of Food Dialog, experts in the food industry, produced an online version of the Level 2 food Safety & Hygiene course for the Leisure and Catering industry (known at the time as the Foundation or Basic Food Hygiene Certificate).
